               Near Angamaly is Kalady, the birth place of Adi Sankaracharya the great Indian philosopher.The shrine at Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya (788 - 830 A.D.), is a pilgrimage centre of people from all over the world. Sringeri Mutt temple, Sree Ramakrishna Advaita Ashramam and Adishankara Keerthi Stambha Mandapam are the important centres in Kalady. The temple has been built with the hope that it would ultimately become a shrine for all religions and an abode of peace.Brindavanam, an altar with Thulsi plants marks the spot where Aryamba, Adi Shankara's mother, was cremated.
   Getting there: Situated about 45 km from Kochi & 10 km from Angamaly ,Kalady is approachable by road,.
